The mismatched marital partners each conceal a conflicting agenda: she, to free her son from animal form; and he, to make off with a cursed treasure. Knowing the husband’s troubled past and haunted by his own lost passion, the Moor becomes trapped between the ambitions of two wounded souls and the safety of a beloved child. He soon finds himself the reluctant guide to this couple’s halting, heroic pilgrimage to healing.
